On the ground in Bangkok

Well, we made it! Our fight touched down in Bangkok right around 4:00 pm as scheduled, we proceeded through baggage claim and customs without incident, and we met our friends Jon and Becky as planned, with a van which took us to the Alliance Guest Home, which will be our home away from home during our time in Bangkok, which will last until Monday evening.

After a little time to get unpacked and settled in at the guest house (but no laying down, my orders!) Jon and Becky took us into town for dinner at a little place they frequent during the day while they are at language school. Afterwards, we stopped by Jon and Becky's language school and prayed for the school and for Jon and Becky in their time there. Finally, we made our way back to the guest house, where we are all ready to crash. This whole experience gave our 3 rookie members their first taste of Bangkok public transportation, and they even got a taste of 3 different types - SkyTrain, bus, and taxi.

I want one of the team members who have never made this trip before to post some of their reflections on the travel when they get a chance, but my computer was the first to connect to the internet, so I won the update honor for tonight.

Tomorrow, we will connect with Jon and Becky again, first by worshipping at the church of one our Thai connections, Dr. Phaitoon. After lunch and connections at the church, we'll head out to do some shopping and continue to connect with our friends, among other things.

Pray especially for rest for the team tonight (today for you), and that we will all make as quick of an adjustment to the 11 hour time difference as is possible. Also pray for our time with the Thai church tomorrow, and for safety and protection as we travel around Bangkok.

Blessings to you all, and thanks again for your prayers and support.

It took me awhile to read a months worth of blog and to reset a long forgotten Blogger password but was here for the first incountry update. Praying for you from the comfort of home istead of on the road but God has plans.
